Droid Bishop is not a musician to sit back and hand over the reins when creating the ’80s synthwave tracks he is notorious for. Consistently involved with supporters of his music as well as composing, arranging and producing his own tracks, it is no wonder James Bowen’s fans are growing in number. – Noise Porn

I’m a sucker for that 80′s tinged sci-fi synth pop. There’s something about it that brings me to a time and a place where everything just feels right. Today we get to premiere a new tune from Los Angeles based Droid Bishop . And it’s pure gold. Any time I bring up Molly Ringwald you know it’s good. And this is no exception. It just strikes a chord with me. The pulsating synths and drums feel so cinematic. I can’t get enough. I think these guys and Story of The Running Wolf need to sit down in the studio together. – The Most Definitely

Droid Bishop’s eagerly anticipated debut full length record has arrived and the build up of excitement that has been finally unleashed. The Droid Bishop journey in 80s inspired sounds has always delivered a level of engagement and attachment to the music that is uncommon. His gift for creating spaces and conveying ideas and stories through his music has been some of my favourite and given the scope of what he’s released thus far I, for one, was champing at the bit to see what he was going to come up with in his first full feature length record. – Synthetix.FM

As the cycles, and recycled ways of synth pop revivalism, revisionism, and re-visitation remain full swing in the world—artists will continue to take the technologies of today and modify them as weapons with one foot set in the past and an unknown future. Take LA’s Droid Bishop, aka James Bowen, who has just released the album Beyond the Blue on the new Chicago by Memphis imprint, 80s Ladies Records presents the following premiere stream and following conversation. – Impose Magazine
